The fine brushstrokes of the miniatures require not only a steady hand and a good eye, perhaps supported by a large magnifying glass, but also the tools that make the fine work possible in the first place: a brush of cat hair.

The details of the painting are done with a single cat’s hair. The remaining hairs of the brush are primarily used to support this one hair.

Puss “Miechen” is used to leave a pair of hairs for art from time to time
